Look around you at the people you know, the people you don’t whom you might pass in the supermarket or the street. According to The Mental Health Foundation 1 in 6 people are living with anxiety and/or depression and many of those don’t seek support or help, often not realising that there is any available. You are not alone.
For some people anxiety may present by a feeling of worry or fear, for others it may be a sudden nausea or irritable bowel. Depression can accompany these feelings, or stand on its own. When someone is depressed they may experience feelings of low mood or apathy, and may find it difficult to make decisions and/or isolate themselves. There are many overlaps between the two conditions. Sleep, either too often or not enough, is often a description I hear from my clients, words like “insomniac” or sentences like “I’ve always been this way” are reported too. Clients often come to me after trying other treatments that have not been successful.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy uses elements of cognitive behavioural therapy and neuro-linguistic programming alongside solution focused conversation to help guide you to where you want to be.
Our first session will involve lots of talking on my part, as I explain briefly some of the physiology and primitive behaviours that result in us feeling the way we do. We also discuss your best hopes and preferred future, so that we have a shared goal that we can focus on achieving together.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a form of guided relaxation using visual imagery and positive affirmations to help increase your sense of wellbeing. You are always in control and have an awareness of your surroundings. During the trance I take extracts from our conversation, words you have used, about your preferred future that week, and insert them alongside meaningful positive affirmations.
