December Survival Guide… TIP 10

Sleep disturbances ? often happen when we are feeling a little extra pressure or stress, or if we have something in particular on our minds ?that we are worried about.?

When we are in the Rapid Eye Movement (REM)? part of our sleep cycle we process worries and stressors in our life, moving them from our emotional to our narrative mind?. If we are not getting good quality REM we will begin to notice, because we start to feel like we are not coping too well with parts of our lives that we usually cope with just fine. ??

Remember that time you got really irritated by someone, told a friend all about it, only to be told by your friend that you shouldn’t let it bother you. You got into bed?️ that night and it STILL bothered you… ?but you had a good nights sleep, and in the morning you maybe even laughed at yourself for letting it get to you so much??

REM sleep helped you to process the stressful event and enabled you to view it from a different, less emotional perspective the following day. ??
