Take a look at yesterdays list?. Action one is to make any adjustments, now that you have had an opportunity to sleep ? on it.
Now I would like you to add a new column to your list. This is called the rewards column! ?
Next to each item on your list I’d like you to write down ?how you are going to reward yourself after each action is complete. ?
Our limbic system ? (that naughty inner chimp?) likes to know that a behaviour we have planned for ourselves is safe, and an acceptable behaviour for us to use. So by planning the actions and then planning the reward ?that relates to the action, we are teaching our inner chimp that doing the actions our list is good for us?. Therefore, we are much more likely to do them.
Rewards can vary from giving yourself a good pat on the back?, to having a cheeky chocolate?, or having a nice long soak in the bath?. The reward also must be achievable?.
