Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Membership

£20.00 / month

“Only a few people know just how much it affects me. I don’t like the assumption that people think I just like cleaning. It’s not that at all. After I clean it makes me feel amazing, but sometimes I wish I could relax and let things go a bit.”

“When I told my friend I had OCD they laughed and said can I come and clean their house for them. My OCD has nothing to do with cleaning though, it has to do with checking and rechecking that certain things have been done. I have to get out of bed when I’m just about to fall asleep sometimes because I can’t remember if I’ve done it or not and I know I won’t sleep if I don’t check.”

“Sometimes I have to ring my neighbour and get them to check for me. If they don’t answer the phone I have to make up an excuse and go home, but it’s usually fine anyway. I can’t seem to stop myself obsessing over it though.”

“For me my OCD doesn’t feel like it’s there all of the time. Something will trigger it and then I go into overdrive. Once I stayed up cleaning my whole house from top to bottom, every skirting board, every door, every light switch, everywhere, all because someone had knocked on my door and I didn’t know who it was. I didn’t even answer the door because I was frozen in place, but I never wanted that feeling again, so I knew if I tidied and cleaned to within an inch of my life, I’d feel better, and I’d answer the door next time….. as long as it was still spotless anyway.”
