Procrastination is the art of finding anything to do but the task at hand. For example, you might have a huge washing pile that needs tackling, but because you feel like you can’t face it yet, you tackle the dishes instead. Or maybe you’ve got a book you feel you should read to further your development, but you’ve also got another fiction book you want to finish, so you read that first. Let’s take a look at how we can stop procrastinating.
Am I an avoider of procrastination? Certainly not. Especially this time of year. January is so difficult to get back into the swing of work after having all the Christmas and festive two weeks away. All the rubbish food we have eaten and the bad weather makes us feel sluggish. We’ve had two weeks of no routine, not having to get up super early, going to bed late and all we feel like doing is setting that snooze button. So how can we stop procrastinating?
So, how do we stop ourselves from procrastinating so much?
Okay, so yes a combination of no routine, rubbish food and bad weather will leave you feeling super sluggish! It’s time to get back into a healthier sleep routine. Choose a sleep time and a wake-up time and stick to it.
When it comes to food, slowly start making some healthier swaps, so it feels manageable. 90% of serotonin is produced in our gut. Feeling good is bound to be difficult if we’re not eating well.
Introduce a little exercise into your morning routine. Even if its just five star jumps before you eat breakfast. It will get your endorphins going and give you more energy for the rest of the day.
Yes, it really is time to stop procrastinating, you have no excuse to continue now. Yes, this is also me talking to myself. I really don’t. Time to get writing some more blogs for you lovely people. This was a blog that wasn’t on my list of to do’s … see how I procrastinated there. Ooops!
We all do it, but hopefully this blog will help you move away from the lull you’re currently feeling.
