December Survival Guide…TIP 24

Alcohol: There may be a few sore heads today ?‍♂️?‍♀️ December is a time of year when there appears to be alcohol aplenty??.

This doesn’t always feel great the next day?. Our bodies become dehydrated. So what is going on in our brain?

When we consume alcohol ? initially, our brain releases more of those feel good chemicals, called endorphins?. It is a depressant☹️ though, which means it slows down the billions of constant messages firing ?away in our brains.

The next day; alongside feeling so dehydrated?, another chemical builds up in our blood. Combined, these can give us stomach upsets?, headaches ?‍♀️?‍♂️ and we probably feel quite exhausted too?.

Even when your blood alcohol level reduces, we continue to feel low in mood?, this is because the alcohol has created a complete imbalance in the usual chemicals ⚡ that we have in our brain ?.
